I’ve been helping people build better relationships at work and at home for more than 25 years, since 1986.
- Master’s Degree in Communication with an emphasis on both family and organizational communication (2002)
- Certified as a parenting course instructor for 10 years with a national, non-profit, social services organization (1986 to 1996)
- 6 years overlapping experience as a Leadership Trainer, Corporate Training Manager and Executive Coach (1998 to 2004)
- Received more than 100 hours certification training in personality types, temperament theory, and its application in different settings including stress related situations (1999 to 2001)
- Worked for 5 years (2004 to 2009) to research, create, design, teach, and test a set of research based, family communication courses including Parenting By COLORs and COLOR WORKs For Couples that teaches parents and couples how understanding personality types can improve family relationships
- In 2005, established Family COLOR WORKS, LLC, a family focused, service oriented business that promotes Parenting By COLORs and COLORs For Couples classes, products, and soon to come… books, dvd’s, cd’s, and home-based learning kits
I’m an Extroverted Blue Orange and I love sharing this information with parents who quickly feel hopeful once again about their kids! I love my family! My husband, Steve, of 29 years is an Introverted Green Orange, our son, Zach, 26, is a Green Orange, our daughter Caitlyn, 21, is an Orange Green, and our new son-in-law Kendall, 22, is a Blue Orange. I also love Mexican food, beaches, camping in the mountains, and collecting “memory rocks”. My kids call me “Yoda Mom”… (Why, hmmmm, know not, do I!)

I’ve been working with families for more than 18 years. I’ve also been a part of Parenting By COLORs for 5 years.
- Preschool teacher with a passion for implementing the Montessori method in the classroom and at home
- 18 years of early childhood classroom experience, and Preschool Director of my own preschool with 13 students
- Received over 150 hours of early childhood continuing education training with an emphasis on teaching to the child's individual needs
- Attended a Parenting By COLORs course in 2005; learned and faithfully applied the Parenting By COLORs process since that time
- In 2010, certified as a Parenting By COLORs Course Instructor and Parenting Coach including more than 100 hours of training with Shannon Ward, M.A., creator of Parenting By COLORs, and founder of Family COLOR WORKS, LLC
